Wedding venue in Cornwall: 5 reasons we love spring weddings at Boconnion

The first hints of spring are finally in the air, and we’re welcoming it with open arms at Boconnion. The lambs are finding their feet in the surrounding fields, wildflowers are slowly coming into bloom and the gentle spring sunshine is bathing the estate in a golden glow. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Cornwall that truly showcases the season, then look no further. Below I’ll explain the top 5 reasons why I love spring weddings at Boconnion…

1. Be naturally inspired by the beauty of Boconnion in spring

Welcome to Boconnion: a rustic countryside estate, boasting understated luxury and Cornish charm. As Boconnion wakes from it’s winter slumber, you’ll be enchanted by the bluebells peppering our woodlands, the wild flowers popping up amongst the grounds and the green leafy canopies of the ancient oaks that line the drive. The estate is also a haven for wildlife. Lambs in the neighbouring fields are being born, rabbits awaken from their winter hibernation and deer can be spotted bouncing through the surrounding forests. We invite you to lose yourself in peaceful seclusion and watch the world come back to life.

When it comes to your wedding day, the climbing magnolia that coats the west side of the Georgian manor will be in full bloom, covering the house with big, beautiful white and pink flowers, perfect for photos. Spring also offers mild and warm weather, meaning you can get married outside in the gardens, or in the Manor House with the floor length windows flung wide open. Marquees are also extremely popular, as they make for the perfect alfresco-yet-sheltered wedding breakfast space.

2. English flowers and produce are coming into season

Spring in England is a time of plentiful produce. I work with a hand selected list of wedding suppliers. Many of our caterers cook with local and seasonal produce wherever possible, meaning spring is the perfect month for fresh veggies, locally-reared meats and elderflower wine! When you book a wedding at Boconnion you’ll have full access to my list of recommended caterers, who will work alongside you and your partner to create the perfect spring menu.

Whilst flowers can be imported from all over the world, there’s something classic and timeless about choosing English flowers. Spring is an incredible month for blossoms and blooms, and our talented florists adore working with seasonal plants. Roses, tulips, peonies, narcissi, lily of the valley and sweet peas are all show their colours from April (and sometimes earlier), and our recommended florists are experts in gorgeous bouquets, flower crowns, half and full arches and table decor. I love it when couples decide to interweave florals into their Barton Barn and outdoor decorations, from the gorgeous exposed beams and oak bar inside to the arched doorways and iron railings outside.

3. Better availability for our wedding venue in Cornwall

Whilst summer and early autumn are notoriously the most popular seasons for weddings, we think early spring is still somewhat overlooked and underrated. You can take advantage of this by booking your spring wedding for March, which we can be quieter, giving you a chance to choose the perfect date that suits you. Our highly sought after recommended suppliers are also less in-demand too, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to choose the best caterers, florists, stylists and photographers without them being booked already.

Also, if you’re opting for a larger wedding it’s worth considering that spring is a safe bet for most of your guests! You don’t have any major school holidays and pre-booked summer trips to contend with, or Christmas, New Year and winter escapes. Marquee’s are very popular for big weddings, but the Barton Reception Barn is also a great option if the weather isn’t looking as dreamy as hoped. The Barn can accommodate up to 250 people over 2 floors, and can be utilised for ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and receptions.

4. Spring means new beginnings

Kick off the wedding season by booking your day in the spring. There won’t have been many weddings yet, meaning you can set the precedence. All your ideas will be original and fresh, and will probably inspire lots of your friends for their weddings later down the line!

Spring is also synonymous with new beginnings, making it a poignant time to begin the rest of your life with your lover. We’d be honoured to set the scene for your big day, as our wedding venue in Cornwall is the perfect backdrop for bringing together your nearest and dearest. The estate sleeps 27 people on site, with space for a further 8 at our hidden cottage, Lower Hill, which is only 5 minutes down the road. We invite you to celebrate love surrounded by your favourite people for the entire weekend.

5. Colour palette of dreams

With all the pretty flowers popping up across the estate and beautiful blue skies overhead, spring offers a colour palette of dreams for your wedding day at Boconnion. The soft light filtering through the beech and oak trees is perfect for photos, the wild and naturally growing flowers add natural depth to all floral installations and arrangements throughout the estate and our recommended stylists will create stationery that compliments the season itself. Plus, soft pastels slot seamlessly into spring, and bridesmaids dresses, statement accessories and table decoration can all be tailored to match, tying your day together through the simplest of details.
