WEDDING FAQS AT BOCONNION
When can we view Boconnion?
Viewings need to be made strictly by appointment with Caroline who is always happy to talk through Boconnion’s availability for weddings. This call is a chance for Caroline to answer queries about capacity, set-up and larger or marquee weddings. We also hold three open days throughout the year where our whole venue will be available to view, including the grounds. You can find our most recent open day details here.
How many can Boconnion sleep?
Boconnion can sleep up to 45 guests over four properties. Boconnion House can sleep 17, Boconnion Barton sleeps 12, Boconnion Stables sleeps 8 and Lower Hill sleeps 8. For additional guests, there is plenty of room for glamping or camping on the estate and local accommodation in the area.
How many guests can I have at Boconnion?
Boconnion Barn is available for your wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast with a seating capacity of 90 on one floor. We can also accommodate up to 250 guests over two floors for your evening festivities. For larger weddings, Boconnion offers a marquee on the meadow.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
Boconnion supplies all your alcoholic drinks for your event and during your stay. Our wine list is carefully chosen with wedding breakfasts in mind. You may choose to have a paying bar or provide a tab for your guests. Prices for wines and other drinks are set at local pub prices. We do not allow couples or guests to bring their own alcohol.
Does Boconnion cover catering?
Our prices do not include catering, so please choose from our list of 12 carefully selected caterers. They are excellent and bring with them a wealth of experience and skill. Everyone on the list is familiar with the set-up at Boconnion and offers a range of prices and food styles. We request that couples choose a caterer from this selection.
Does Boconnion have a licence for Civil Ceremonies?
No, we do not. Boconnion hosts Celebrant-led weddings only and we do not have a licence for civil ceremonies. Please contact Lisa from Celebrant in Cornwall to book your ceremony.
Can we get married elsewhere and have our reception at Boconnion?
If a celebrant-led ceremony is not for you, the beautiful local church of St Helena in the village of Helland is a 5-minute drive away. You are welcome to have your ceremony there or at any church of your choice and continue your wedding celebrations on the estate. Please note, Boconnion is a weekend wedding destination, so we offer a minimum hire of two-days. Boconnion does not offer day weddings with no overnight accommodation.
Does the venue have a wedding planner or coordinator?
We work closely with Cornwall wedding planner Caroline Griffiths, who will be on hand for support and guidance throughout your wedding planning process, providing you with useful help and advice along with the best of Cornwall’s wedding suppliers. Caroline is also on-site over the weekend of your wedding to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Caroline can also be hired for additional planning services and on-the-day support or if you are managing your own arrangements but need additional help in the six weeks prior to your wedding day. Please email weddings@boconnion.co.uk for information.
Can we have a marquee wedding at Boconnion?
Boconnion is a secluded location, making us the perfect place for marquee weddings (and fireworks!). We work closely with Absolute Canvas marquees who are Cornwall’s marquee experts. Whether you are looking for a small or large celebration, Boconnion has beautiful backdrops for a marquee. Please note that due to the extra logistics required, there is an additional charge of £1,000 for all marquee weddings which does not include the cost of your marquee hire.
Are dogs welcome?
Boconnion welcomes all dogs throughout the year. We kindly ask that during the months when livestock are in the fields that dogs are kept on their leads when outside. Boconnion is close to the famous Camel Trail and, as well as walks on the estate, the local countryside offers excellent opportunity for dog walks of varying duration and challenge.
Is Boconnion child friendly?
There is ample room for children to explore the estate if you choose to include them. They are certainly welcome. We can recommend a great children’s entertainer or nanny service. We ask that parents ensure that children are accompanied by an adult at all times to ensure their safety around the swimming pool and grounds.
Can you accommodate wheelchairs and disabled guests?
Yes, we make every effort to accommodate disabled guests and those in wheelchairs. Boconnion Barton has a bedroom on the ground floor which is suitable for wheelchair access, together with a ground floor shower room.
