Once you’ve booked your wedding at Boconnion you’ll have exclusive access to our recommended suppliers list. Within this you’ll find plenty of examples from our partner photographers, making it simple to choose which style you like best for your own big day.

Romantic wedding day ideas for music

The natural acoustics of Boconnion are beautiful, as we are based in a valley surrounded by tall trees and no neighbours. Peace and serenity mingle with birdsong and lambs bleating, but there are a few special ways you can make your romantic wedding day soundtrack truly memorable. How about hiring a live acoustic band to play whilst your guests arrive, find their seats for the ceremony and your bridal party enter. We love harps, violins, guitars and flutes. Really turn up the romance by asking them to play an acoustic version of the song that you and your partner consider ‘your song’, as you walk down the aisle. There won’t be a dry eye in the place!

When it comes to the reception, another live band is always fun, or a DJ is great for getting people on the dance floor. Ask them to play all your favourite songs as a couple, and try and remember the golden oldies that you danced to when you first met, too! Learning a dance routine for your first dance as a married couple is also a really fun and exciting way to show off your love and get laughter flowing!

Fairytale florals

There’s something so romantic about outdoor ceremonies. You can opt for a celebrant-led ceremony anywhere within the grounds of Boconnion, be that barefoot in the wildflower meadow or in front of the stunning, magnolia draped Georgian manor house. If you choose to get married in the late spring and early summer, you’ll feel the gentle rain of thousands of blossom petals, or the autumn flowers and fruits can provide a stunning backdrop to your romantic wedding day.

Go heavy on the florals, especially big white roses and dahlias, to bring a fairytale feel to bouquets and flower arrangements. We work with a number of stunning florists who can create and style half and full flower arches to surround the doorways, ceremony location and church. Dreamy.

Light up your country house wedding venue

String lights and fairy lights can be hung throughout the grounds, buildings and trees. As the sun goes down over the hills turn up the romance by lighting up the walkways and naturally inspired surroundings. It’ll add a gentle glow to the evening, plus illuminate the stunning surroundings of oak trees and rustic barns.

Our Barton Reception Barn oozes Cornish charm, from traditional stonework to exposed beams. If you love fairytales, consider bathing the Barn in the glow of candlelight. The flickering glow will make for an incredibly cosy and intimate environment.

With the arrival of dusk, light the fire pits! They are perfect for keeping away the cold and people always gravitate to their warmth. Lose yourself in the flickering flames, cuddled up with your nearest and dearest whilst you celebrate your union.

Beautiful stationery

Add a touch of classy romance to your stationery. It’s often in the little details that we notice the biggest gestures, and elegant calligraphy, pretty florals and delicate typography on your stationery can make all the difference. We work with a select few stationery and styling specialists who will be able to tie in personal notes (such as your favourite flowers) and desired designs to make for wedding invites, table plans and an Order of the Day that are as pretty as a picture. Keep the colour palette muted with light pastels and creamy tones to make your wedding day stationery feel romantic and dreamy.

Make time to be alone

Wedding days are wonderful, filled with love, laughter, family and friends. But if you’re opting for a big wedding with lots of guests, you might find that you spend more time meeting and greeting everyone than with your partner! To counteract this (it is your special day after all!) you can plan a few private moments for yourselves throughout the day. Schedule in time to take a walk through the grounds and soak it all in. This can fit well after the ceremony, as your guests will be mingling, sipping champagne and tucking into canapés. Sneak off to the wildflower meadow, woodland walks or rolling gardens for a few minutes of privacy and reflection. This can also be a great time to ask your photographer to get some beautiful photos of the happy couple. Our recommended photographers know Boconnion like the back of their hands, and can suggest the perfect places for the most romantic wedding shots within our country house wedding venue.

Another great way to make sure you have time to yourselves is with a Sweetheart Table. This is a single table for just the two of you, where you will have time to tuck into your delicious wedding breakfast, chat and gaze into each others eyes, before you’re whisked away by various friends and family!

In the end, the most romantic ideas for your wedding day are the personal ones that mean a lot to you both as a couple. Chat with me, Caroline, your in-house wedding planner, to come up with a host of romantic touches that’ll make your wedding day as unique as you are.
