Art for sale at Boconnion by landscape artist Lucy de Roeper
Lucy de Roeper is a British artist living in London, with roots in Cornwall and Wiltshire. Lucy has exhibited in the UK and internationally, completed commissioned pieces, and works as an art teacher. She has recently completed an MA from City & Guilds of London Art School.
Alongside this, Lucy has recently completed an artist-led residency near Lisbon, responding to a post-industrial site. Working within an unfamiliar environment sharpened her interest in uncertainty and in the space between what is observed and what is felt.
Lucy’s work begins with drawing and develops through an intuitive response to landscape, memory and observation. She paints from places she returns to repeatedly, including the Cornish coast, Wiltshire and the Lake District. Lucy works both representationally and abstractly. Recent work reflects the changing seasons and the way the landscape shifts over time.
The act of making allows her to explore how light, atmosphere and place are experienced emotionally as well as physically. Rather than working towards fixed images, her paintings evolve through process, gesture and layers of paint.
Lucy has five pieces on display at Boconnion, all of which are for sale. Find details below. Follow Lucy on Instagram at @lucyderoeper_art and, for more of her work, visit her website.
