The Boconnion meadow is the perfect location to set up a marquee, taking advantage of our generous green space, beautiful views across the Camel Valley and private, secluded feel. Blossoming with bluebells in spring, wildflowers in summer, and framed by the burnt tones of autumn later in the year, our meadow is your blank canvas, ready to be styled into the outdoor wedding of your dreams. We work with trusted local supplier Absolute Canvas to create stunning marquee weddings on our country estate. In-house wedding planner, Caroline Griffiths, works with Absolute Canvas to ensure our couples have the right size marquee to suit their needs. Marquees are ideal for parties with between 90 and 250 guests, but we can create beautiful, intimate marquee weddings for smaller celebrations too.
As part of the package, Absolute Canvas provide the events marquee, catering marquee, generator and furniture. You are welcome to arrange alternative furniture to suit your aesthetic if you’d like. They do not provide toilets.
Our couples are invited to transform their marquee however they choose, with decorations, customisations and bespoke styling. The beauty of a marquee wedding is that it acts as a total blank canvas, from flowers and table settings to personal touches. We encourage our couples to see the meadow as their extended space, with guests spilling outside for golden hour drinks and photo opportunities. Picture relaxed outdoor seating, pop-up bar carts, lawn games and festoon lights.

What happens if it rains on the day?
The benefit of getting married on an exclusive-use, private estate is that we can be totally flexible right up to the last minute and adapt plans based on the weather. Caroline and Absolute Canvas are experts in ensuring every wedding day runs smoothly whatever the forecast. All marquees come with side panels that can be secured down if necessary and, with the marquee less than a minute’s walk from the barn and accommodation, we can help ensure guests are dry when moving around the estate. Opting for a celebrant-led ceremony provides extra flexibility on the day (waiting for weather to pass) as they are not restricted by an appointment slot. Note that stretch tents are less ideal for winter weddings as they do not have side panels.
How do I know what size marquee I need?
Caroline will talk to you in detail about your guestlist and plans for the day, before liaising with Absolute Canvas to make sure you have the right size tent.
Will the marquee come with a hard floor?
The marquee comes with coir matting included in the package. Hard flooring, including a dance floor, can be added at an extra cost. Please note this can be an expensive option. We recommend our couples move into Barton Barn for the evening party to avoid the cost of additional flooring.
How long does set up and pack down take?
The Absolute Canvas team take care of the set up and pack down of the marquee and furniture (if using furniture included in their package). Our couples are invited to decorate the space from Friday and can use until Sunday afternoon - or Monday if a third day is booked.
Absolute Canvas can advise on and supply additions such as interior draping, flooring options, festoon and fairy lighting, feature chandeliers, ladders and exterior lighting.
When it comes to the evening drinks and dancing, we suggest our couples move into the Barton Barn. Perfectly set up to party the night away, with ample space across two floors, a beautiful hand-carved bar and access to the meadow, this means our couples avoid the additional cost of hiring a dance floor and lighting in the marquee.

PRICES AND PACKAGES
Stretch tents are becoming increasingly popular for summer weddings as a way to enjoy being outside with guaranteed shade. With no side panels, no flooring and less height and grandeur, they are more informal than a marquee but still create a beautiful, intimate outdoor space.
Stretch tents can be set up on the Boconnion meadow for a relaxed space where guests can flow easily in and out. Ask Caroline for more information.
