Tregothnan Tea Tour & Tasting (50mins)

A very special experience for tea lovers from the only English tea producers to grow their tea in England. In 2005 the first Camellia Sinensis were harvested at Tregothnan producing just 28g of tea and the world’s first true English tea was heralded as the ‘new Darjeeling’. The estate is divided by the River Fal - the eastern bank is home to the resplendent house and mature gardens (see Houses & Gardens and Annual Events), whilst the western bank shelters the largest tea garden in Europe. Enjoy exclusive access at a time and date that suits you for a fascinating 2 mile walked tour given by either John, Rod or newly qualified tea sommelier Ira.  Be guided through the new Jungle garden, discover the origins of their Kea plum orchard, and of course, discover their tea plantations, picking your own tips to brew when you get back to ‘The Reading Room’ alongside a tea tasting experience.  Cream teas or a light lunch can all be organised for you. Hayward Farm Cider Tour & Tasting (20mins)

There’s a heady sense of some bygone era stepping into Haywards Farm. Boasting the only cider in Cornwall to be made entirely from apples (and elderflower) grown in their own orchards, and it’s delicious to boot, with the option of having it straight from the barrel.  Tom is very informal and a huge enthusiast having fallen into the industry with a group of friends some 20+ years ago.  He will give you a fascinating exclusive tour of the orchards and traditional cider making with plenty of tasting opportunities throughout, and the option for a local cheese board to accompany it with prices from £20pp.  We can’t recommend it highly enough.
