Spring weddings at Boconnion: Cornwall’s most enchanting season to say “I do”

There’s a moment in Cornwall when winter finally exhales. The hedgerows thicken with green, the air softens and the countryside begins to unfurl. It’s a season of beginnings — making spring the perfect season to get married.

For couples searching for a wedding location that blends rural romance with refined, contemporary luxury, Boconnion is one of Cornwall’s most quietly extraordinary exclusive-use venues. It’s stunning in spring, with blossom trees, bright lawns and wisteria surrounding the estate’s Georgian manor and rustic stone barn.

Here, we explore the benefits of getting married in spring, from budget to temperature to colour schemes.

It’s budget-friendly

The spring months are not in the wedding high season, making them less expensive to book for a weekend wedding. February and March are considered low-season while April is mid-season, meaning you can find a date to suit your budget. You don’t have to worry about extreme heatwaves

Summer weddings are the most likely to be sunny but the current shift in weather patterns has seen many of our summer couples getting married during extreme heatwaves. They are still wonderful and we work flexibly on the day to make sure guests are comfortable - but for some it’s a concern. Although we can still see high temperatures in spring, there is less chance of continued heat and the shorter days allow for cooler evenings.

The estate is in full bloom

Boconnion House is draped in a mature wisteria that looks spectacular for a spring wedding. A dream for couples and photographers, those are the photos you’ll remember. We also have blossom trees surrounding the barn, beautiful magnolias in the grounds and wild bluebells clumped around the estate.

It’s the season of soft light

Photographers adore spring at Boconnion. The light is gentle, flattering and stretches long into the evening.

It’s all about flowing, indoor‑outdoor celebrations

Spring weddings thrive on movement: drinks on the lawn, canapés under blossom trees and a ceremony that drifts into an evening celebration. Boconnion is built for this kind of flow.

Couples can begin their day in the manor house before moving to the stone barn for an atmospheric ceremony. The barn’s exposed beams and textured stone feel warm and intimate, especially when paired with spring florals and soft, organic styling.

Marquees and stretch tents are also popular in the spring months for that more seamless indoor/outdoor vibe.

Styling that blooms with the season

Spring styling is effortless at Boconnion. Florists lean into seasonal blooms — hellebores, ranunculus, blossom branches and tulips. The barn’s rustic charm pairs beautifully with meadow‑style florals and candlelit tables.

Cornwall is on your doorstep - make a weekend of it

Although Boconnion feels wonderfully secluded, it sits within easy reach of Cornwall’s iconic north coast. Polzeath, Rock and Port Isaac are all close enough for guests to explore before or after the wedding, turning the celebration into a mini‑holiday. Spring is one of the best seasons to enjoy Cornwall’s coastline — quieter, softer and full of early‑season charm.
